The Minister of Education, the rector and president of the Board of this university address the need for a multi-year funding 2016-2020
The Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, today held a working meeting with the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), José Antonio Franco, and President of the Board of the university, Juan José Pedreño, where the construction of the School of Architecture, according to the counselor, "has secured financial backing for execution" was discussed.
The new School of Architecture is a flagship project of the UPCT which completes infrastructure facilities of this educational institution.
The budget is seven million, provided by the Ministry and FEDER funds, whose tender is planning to invite tenders UPCT this year.
The building will be located in the university campus facilities Alfonso XIII, will have 8,000 square meters including basement, ground floor and three floors, where the Polytechnic house all his teachings related to Architecture and Construction.
Currently, about 1,000 students studying at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena in grades Architecture and Building Engineering at the Masters of Architectural Heritage and Building Science and Technology in Architecture.
"This year we have provided the budgets of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena with over half a million euros for the start of construction of the School of Architecture", said the Minister Pedro Antonio Sánchez, adding that "we have secured financial backing in the coming years to complete this infrastructure with contributions from the Ministry of Education and FEDER funds for the consolidation and development of this strategic project UPCT ".
Also at the meeting the establishment of a working group between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities, Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the University of Murcia was also analyzed to negotiate and agree on a multiannual financial plan for public universities 2016-2020 .
Pedro Antonio Sánchez said "we want to move into an agreement that allows appropriate planning of budgets over the next five years to facilitate the development of strategic projects at universities and better linkages between society and the university."
In the multi-year funding plan that the Ministry will propose to the universities shall prevail criteria for quality teaching, research and management as well as aspects such as specialization, rationalization of academic offerings, adaptation to the needs of social and productive fabric or transparency.
