The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, today welcomed the Hall students participating in XXXV Course of National Defence Palace. It is a course organized annually by the School for Advanced Defense Studies of the Centre for Defence Studies National (CESEDEN).
This edition was inaugurated on January 15 in Madrid and will last until April 20.
This course is intended to enable students to gain an overview of National Defense, the foundations of security and defense policy, the outlines of the organization and planning of Defense and Armed Forces missions.
In his forty-two students, among which include general of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, parliamentarians and representatives of the state administration and other areas of society such as the university, the media or participate industry.
The program includes lectures, individual and group, symposia and visits to military centers and facilities of interest to the defense units.
Also includes two trips, one to Cartagenay Alicante national and international travel to Athens, key country in the relations derived from the concept of security and defense in the Mediterranean area.
During his stay in Cartagena plans to meet Submarine Base, the headquarters and surveillance Maritime Action, Arsenal and the Infantry School, which make Cartagena in a strategic place in the map of national defense.
His presence in the city will allow them to also see how disused military facilities have joined the network of university facilities in the city.
The mayor, after welcome at the Palace Hall, has shown them their main offices and explained to them the rich historical and cultural heritage value as well as the binding of the city with the defense and the armed forces.
