With the new system, which has implemented the concessionaire of the municipal water service, Hidrogea, times are reduced in locating leaks and, therefore, repair, as has been found in the lines of the Pearl District
The City of Cartagena is raised once again the bandwagon of the latest technology and, through the concessionaire of the Municipal Water Service Hidrogea, has implemented an innovative system developed by Aqualogy, for leak detection lines without cutting the water users.
Helium is injected into the area to be inspected, it is dissolved in water and finding a leak, water impregnates the ground while helium is released.
Then the network is monitored with an automated system that will take air samples, and, since helium is found in very low concentrations naturally in the environment, it detects that there is more than necessary, jump indicator that there is a leak.
The system, called iDROLOC, has already been tested by technicians and Aqualogy Hidrogea system operators in the Pearl District, where a leak was detected in the Underwater street will be repaired shortly.
MÃ S EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE
iDROLOC is a leak detection system that uses helium as a tracer gas for inspection without interrupting water service to users.
It is useful to detect leaks in both lines mainline and large diameter and small pipelines and connections within and outside the village, posing a more accurate and effective alternative to conventional acoustic methods, as also detects leaks that go unnoticed with the latter.
It operates under the premise that helium is lighter than air, so it tends to rise naturally to the surface thanks to the concentration of helium in the atmosphere has a constant value.
Thus, the advantages of this new system are the following:
It is effective in pipe materials (plastic, cement, metal, etc.) and service.
Possible to locate leaks in pipes of large diameter, where conventional systems are not operating.
Leaks are located accurately, saving time and resources on repairs.
Does not affect public health, or water quality.
Allows leak detection testing the tightness of pipes before being placed in service.
Unaffected by sounds or vibrations that could interfere with systems for leaks and locate leaks old suffering noise dissipation processes by flooding.
Lets check the tightness of the sector.
