The company Alsa, concessionaire of the municipal urban transport service in the city, has introduced four new hybrid buses which will save 39% fuel, reduce CO2 by 50%, being more accessible to disabled and able to transport up to 154 passengers. A presentation have attended the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, Councillor for Transport, Joaquín Mowing and Alsa director of the Mediterranean, Valeriano Diaz.
Four new, more modern and sustainable, hybrid buses have been presented this morning and improve accessibility for people with disabilities, adapting to a lower height and angle to suit the sidewalks.
It also contains some improvements to the powertrain, saving energy.
As a result, 2014 was closed with a rise in passengers of 2.5% which means more than 111,000 passengers more, explained the first mayor. This increase rating has intensified in the past month December with 8.34% more than in 2013, ie almost 30,000 more travelers, has continued.

APPLICATION FOR MOBILE AND OTHER MEASURES
Transport Councilman Joaquin Segado explained further developments to improve the system of information accompanying the buses.
Among them, stressed a new application for different mobile platforms and which recommends the best route and the bus more appropriate to do so depending on where you are, in real time.
In addition, information panels will be installed at stops where citizens of the estimated waiting time for the bus will be informed after connecting with lines or if there are issues in service.
Cartagena also have twenty panels on the canopies where waiting lines used by passengers arriving: Alameda de San Antón, square Bastarreche, hospital of Saint Lucia and Paseo de Alfonso XIII.
The idea is that in the month of March are running these new measures as the new web application for mobile and installation of panels.
Currently Cartagena has a public transport fleet of 56 buses, of which 35 are intended for urban lines, 17
to intercity and commuter lines and four minibuses.
