The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, has signed this afternoon an agreement with the Minister of Development, Ana Pastor and President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Alberto Garre, for the development of a à rea Regeneration and Renewal Urbana in the historic center of Cartagena.
The signing took place at the Palacio de San Esteban in Murcia.
As stated by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, l he proceedings shall particularly focus on the areas of the windlass and Monte Sacro and shall consist of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of buildings and homes;
development or redevelopment works;
accessibility improvements to public spaces and improvements in environmental efficiency, among others.
The mayor pointed out that the City wants to use this ARRU as a tool to boost construction in the area of Monte Sacro and windlass under parameters of technologically advanced and sustainable housing, linked to the Barrio de Entrepreneurs.
The program will be developed during 2015 and 2016, with an investment of 7.1 million euros financed between government and landowners and buildings.
