The mayor and the regional director of Repsol have signed a partnership agreement aimed implement AutoGas, Thursday cleaner than traditional gasoline, which will begin to be used in more than fifty municipal vehicles
The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by the Town Planning and Infrastructure, Francisco Espejo, and the regional director of Repsol LPG in the Communities of Valencia and Murcia, Francisco Fernández-Pacheco, today signed a collaboration agreement to encourage the use of AutoGas, a new alternative ecological fuel, beginning adapt municipal fleet vehicles to the new fuel.
With this initiative, both parties agree, in their respective areas, to promote the use of AutoGas in the city of Cartagena, creating the ideal infrastructure for the consumption of the fuel, streamlining the procedures of activity and promoting the approval of vehicles for the taxi sector.
Regarding the municipal fleet, noted the mayor that will mean a saving of 70,000 euros for the municipality, will affect 61 vehicles, 27 of them from the local police, and investment in adaptation thereof has been 125,477 euros, having calculated adaptation within 22 months for the return of the investment.
According Barreiro noted, apart from the economic benefit involved, also creates a better environment management, and management must lead by example in this regard.
Currently, Repsol AutoGas provides more than 295 service stations distributed throughout the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Two of them are located in Cartagena, particularly in service stations Paseo Alfonso XIII and Mandarache.
In the economic and environmental benefits, Fernández Pacheco added techniques from the point of view of maintenance costs are reduced because fewer vehicles are damaged and the life thereof is extended.
AutoGas is the most used alternative fuel in the world, with 25 million users.
In Spain, over 35,000 Cars drive with this alternative fuel, of which 1,000, mainly passenger cars and commercial vehicles moving in the Murcia community.
Repsol factories in tailings and Castellón are producing this new fuel to supply the entire Mediterranean Basin.
AUTOGAS, ALL BENEFITS
The City of Cartagena include this agreement signed with Repsol within your Local Air Quality Strategy, as the AutoGas contribute to its improvement by low emissions of particulates and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
It also helps minimize the greenhouse for their low CO2 emissions.
AutoGas powered vehicles have a cost savings of up to 40% compared to conventional fuels.
These advantages are among the alternative fuels more supported by administrations, as public support of the PIMA Air PIVE 6 and 4 for the LPG automotive benefits plans.
