Incognito is a personal project of Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick, founder and guitarist and author of most of the compositions of the band.
Bluey Incognito formed in 1980, influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Santana, Eart Wind & Fire or Kool & The Gang.1 The original lineup was led by Bluey himself and bassist Paul Williams, and was also made by the saxophonist George Lee, drummer Jeff Dunn, keyboardist Peter Hinds and percussionist Gee Bello, who with the collaboration of other musicians in the studio to record the debut album of the band, an all-instrumental album "Jazz Funk 'which was presented in 1981.
During the rest of the decade each of the original members of the project took its own path, and Bluey continued writing and producing for other artists while maintaining a job outside of music.
In the late 80s Bluey met Gilles Peterson, the founder of the label "Acid Jazz", who produced the band's second album, "Inside Life" in 1991, released ten years later that the debut album whose training was only Maunick.
The album had the powerful voice of soul diva Jocelyn Brown, and was a great success, bringing the band to the head of the new musical phenomenon known as Acid Jazz and directed by Gilles Peterson, owner of the two most important seals movement: "Acid Jazz" and "Talking Loud".
