The eighteenth edition of the contest between strings and brass starts next week with promotional concerts in which the winners of last year will take the stage.
The event is organized by the Youth Council and the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena.
This first concert will be on Tuesday, May 18, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena with the performance of four winners, which will make it as soloists and accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena.
Interpreters are Veronica Garcia Nephews (I offer Flamenco Award), Adrian Navarro Garcia (I offer Brass Award), Samuel à Alvaro Muñoz (I offer Percussion Award), Pablo Martínez Alcántara (I Prize Woodwinds mode).
This new year is included in this series of promotional concerts flamenco mode which premiered at last year's contest between strings and brass, with enormous success.
The winner in this category Veronica Garcia Nephews play along with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, the Gypsy part of the composer Abdon Alcaraz, also accompanied on piano by the same Abdon, with arrangements made ​​by Domingo J. Sanchez.
This fusion of flamenco and orchestral accompaniment, is the innovative aspect of this concert, achieving a perfect balance.
The concert program is completed by the talent of the winners in the categories of solo percussion, woodwind and brass wind in the seventeenth edition of the competition between strings and brass.
Adrián Navarro Garcia play with tuba concert R. Vaughan Williams, Samuel Muñoz Alvaro à concert for marimba and orchestra N. Rosauro;
and closing the concert flutist Pablo Martinez Alcantara Suite No. 2 in B Minor by JS Bach.
Concerts with tuba and percussion arrangements are made by Matthew Soto.
The concert will start at 19 hours being free entrance until full capacity.
We recall that between strings and brass have opened the term to present its eighteenth edition until December 19, 2014, being a region-wide competition organized by the Conservatory of Cartagena and the Youth Council of the port city, which also assist others interested in giving promotion to classical music and its performers.
