Born into a musical family in Rio de Janeiro in 1954, Jaques Morelenbaum began his musical career at a very young age.
His father, Henrique Morelenbaum was when Jacques was born, a young violinist in the "Rio de Janeiro Opera House" and Sarah, his mother was a piano teacher.
Over the years, her father became the director of the "Opera House" and after the Teatro Municipal and Jaques, that was his second home.

It is increasingly interested in popular music, where intuition and musical instincts are fundamental to that part of artistic expression.
Gradually many musicians called him to collaborate on important projects.
One was Antonio Carlos Jobim, who were part of his band "Nova Band" for over 10 years.
After Jaques, he worked for five years with pianist and guitarist Egberto Gismonti virtuoso.
He then went to work for 14 years, Caetano Veloso, becoming her musical director and arranger.
With these three, Jaques could fulfill their childhood dreams, traveling and acting worldwide with his music.
Caetano Veloso presented the Japanese master Ryuichi Sakamoto this brilliant artist and soon invited him to work with him and if he did it for 20 wonderful years, from 1992 to 2000, playing in the trio of Sakamoto.

In his 40 year career Jaques has acted in more than two thousand times around the world and worked on over 700 albums as a cellist, composer, director and producer.
He has also produced 53 albums including Grammy winner with Caetono Veloso "Livro".
Among Brazilian artists he has collaborated Jaques, we highlight Milton Nascimento, Gal Costa, Chico Buarque, Roberto Carlos, Edu Lobo, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Carlinhos Brown, Joao Bosco, to name a few.
In 2009 Jaques was developing a project with the great singer and composer Gilberto Gil: Concerto Cordas and rhythm machines.
