The city of Cartagena on Saturday celebrated now a traditional ceremony, the Vote Borrasca Santa Catalina, thus fulfilling the promise made ​​319 years ago when the city was saved from being razed by the intercession of Four Saints Virgin and Rosell, according to the chronicles accounts of the time.
The offering, which was held at St. Mary's Church with a Mass celebrated by the Vicar General, Juan Tudela, also coincided with the feast of the first patron saint of Cartagena, the Virgen del Rosell.
The event was attended by representatives of major groups and institutions, both civil and religious city, including the councilors of the municipal corporation, Antonio Calderon, Gomez Alonso, Clara Hall and Jose Lopez were.
After the Eucharist, the Brother of the Brotherhood of the Risen One, Bernard Simon, made ​​the opening speech in praise of the Virgin del Rosell, who was on the origins of her title.
The tradition of this vote goes back to the night of November 24, 1694, the day of St. Catherine in a special virulence storm struck the city and nearly raze.

The Corporation then decided to make every year an act of gratitude to the Four Saints and the Virgin del Rosell, who has been held, first in the old Cathedral and later at Santa Maria de Gracia.

The celebration culminated with a floral offering to the Virgen del Rosell by authorities, civil organizations, guilds, associations, religious associations, faithful and devotees in general.
