Councillor for Social Care, Antonio Calderon, the president of the Diabetic Society of Cartagena and Shire Sodicar, Maria Dolores Garcia and manager of the Association, Maria Jose Martinez, on Wednesday presented the activities that will develop 7 November 16, in the thirteenth week of Diabetic organized in Cartagena to celebrate November 14, World Diabetes Day.
Calderon has stressed the important work of Sodicar, raise public awareness that should take care and prevent disease with a high proportion of people who suffer and yet unknown.
Those are the keys to this initiative that adopts the motto Healthy Eating and Diabetes and invites the public to make informed and healthy life, starting with a good breakfast, which come from the association instilling through talks in schools.
In Cartagena there are 30,000 people with diabetes, of which about 13,000 are unaware, so we work to reach both Sodicar assured the president who gave meaning to events aimed at increasing awareness about both the population and the authorities remembering that this disease is the cause of 2.6% of deaths in Spain.
Programming of Diabetes Week XIII in Cartagena will open on Friday November 7th with theater, History of a sword, continuing a series of talks on 10, 11 and November 12 in the auditorium of the Foundation Cajamediterráneo.
On Thursday 13, in collaboration with Ircovisión, free retinographies will be made ​​by appointment at Sodicar and already on Friday November 14, World Diabetes Day, was installed in Plaza Juan XXIII an information booth where blood glucose measurements will be made, 10.00 to 14.00.
That same day, at 18.30, there will be a rally at City Hall Plaza, where the facade of the Town Hall will turn blue and start IV States for the Diabetes Walk, ending at the Regional Assembly on reading a manifesto.
The week will culminate on Sunday November 16 with a convivial meal at Club Cabos.
