Is underway the eighteenth edition of the contest between strings and brass , the classical music competition for young musicians in the region of Murcia.
It will be in a couple of weeks, on 18, 19 and November 23, when they begin promotional concerts that last year's winners prove their talent to the public.
The competition is organized by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, together with the Music Conservatory of Cartagena, the region and the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena.
One of the main new features that brings this edition is the addition of a third prize of 150 euros, which was launched due to the very high standard and demand of participants.
The first prize is € 750 and the second $ 350, with special mention of the young talent under 15 years.
It is a platform and means of dissemination for young musicians and also allows them to take the first steps to a career, highlighted this morning Youth Councillor, Ruth Collins at the launch of the contest, who added that since the Town Council are pleased with the fact that our young people will benefit from this type of activities organized from Cartagena.
For his part, the director of the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, Andrés Pérez Barnabas emphasized that this is a great effort but the compensation is higher and is causing a motivating effect on the young people involved.
Young people who want to participate in this year will have until 14 pm on December 19 to join the contest.
Applicants may enroll in the same Department of Youth or the Conservatory, or by certified mail.
Although yet to finalize the dates, the first phase of screening will take place during the months of March and April, while the finals will take place in April. As for the awards and the closing concert will be held, as has been usual, in the Auditorium and Congress Palace El Batel, on May 8.
PRELUDE TO CONTEST
Earlier that same November, the winners of the last edition promotional act in concert, anticipating the contest itself.
The novelty of this series of actions is the third, which takes place in a town of Murcia, will be held this year on it eagles. In particular, in the Auditorium and Congress Palace Infanta Doña Elena, 12 hours.
Promotional concert will start on November 18 at the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena and day 19 in Murcia. Both will be at 19 am.
The winners of the last edition soloists who will be involved in these shows are Veronica Garcia (Flamenco singer);
Adrian Navarro (Tuba);
Samuel Muñoz (Marimba);
Pablo Alcántara (Flute);
à Alejandro Alvarez (Piano);
and Aaron Jover (Tenor).
In December, as well as ahead now the coordinator of the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena and head of studies at the Conservatory of Cartagena, Pedro Martinez, will be a special concert with the winner of the second edition, Gabriel Escudero, accompanied by 30 musicians orchestra Classic, although the exact date will be revealed later.
