José Mª Lapuerta school, located in Pearl District, will conclude its work next week and consisted of t he work of strengthening and Primary porches.

With a total budget of EUR 123,017.55, the Ministry of Education invested in remodeling the center infrastructures, which were added to the actions carried out also by the city of Cartagena.

In the absence of some paint jobs works are now on center point, which will serve to improve the conditions in which class they enrolled 782 students in this school, explained Tuesday the CEO of Educational Institutions, Mª Dolores Valcárcel , who was visiting the center next to the Councillor for Education, Joseph Marotta, and accompanied by the director of the center, Salvador Reverte.

This summer also were carried out work to replace exterior carpentry lab module for more than 32,000 euros, while in 2010 and 2011 euros were invested 54648.08 and 54746.42 euros in works construction of fencing and exterior design of modules and in improving the toilets in one of its modules.

For his part, the mayor stressed that the center will continue to update it already has in many years and they are still working for the City as the remodeling of the doors, stairs, entrances or windows, among other improvements. As stated by our In Education motto we all, is that all administrations, parents and teachers have worked to make students enjoy their school, he added.

Despite the construction of this center students began classes this year, normally, being the last school to complete their work. It's been a long process that performed the necessary technical tastings, but has not been as severe as in initially thought and have done as soon as possible, concluded Maroto.

Last summer, the Ministry of Education carried out works of improvement and refurbishment in 5 schools and institutes such as the IES Espada and CEIP Puig Campillo, Beethoven, Anibal and José María Lapuerta.

The City Council also made it in 40 elementary and primary schools at a cost of 425,000 euros, whose works consisted in improving the internal and external security of the facilities and accessibility, as well as minor alterations, repairs and jobs waterproofing.
