Nearly a hundred people with intellectual disabilities from across the region worked on Saturday in Cartagena ability to make important life decisions.
They do so with an eye toward the future and the scenarios they face outside the parental home.
They did in the Regional Meeting of Self-Advocates of FEAPS Murcia, the Federation of Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy Murcia fifteenth.
We hosted one of its member associations, ASTUS in its center PROLAM of Sorrows.
There they met people with disabilities of different entities as well as Cartagena ASID Caravaca de la Cruz (APCOM), Mule (Intedis) and Murcia (ASSIDO, ASTRAPACE and PEEM).
The meeting was opened by Councillor for Social Services of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon, along with the president of both the Association and ASTUS FEAPS RM federation, Joaquin Barbera.
Self-Advocates program that performs FEAPS Murcia in their associations provides an opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential to be independent and manage their lives by themselves, always to the maximum extent possible in each case.
For that, they have the support of a professional in each group to help them get the most out of sharing.
Both the program and the meeting are funded by the Ministry of Health through programs called 0.7%.

FEAPS Murcia is the result of the union of over 3,000 families working together for the welfare of people with intellectual disabilities 25 forming associations.
Throughout Spain, FEAPS comprises 891 institutions spread over the Spanish territory.
It represents more than 106,700 people with intellectual disabilities, 235,000 family members, 24,000 employees and 8,000 volunteers.
