Student Administration and Management of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Ramón Cardós proposes in his Final Year (TFG) that the emergency services accounted the cost of their service in order to optimize care.
The work, supervised by Eugenio Gomariz entitled 'ABC analysis of the welfare activities of the ER hostipal University of Saint Lucia (Cartagena)', also suggests that clinical processes using standardized guidelines for action and that implant is homogenized and govern a uniform accounting system to compare all hospitals, in order to "identify inefficient responsibility centers, increase competitiveness and productivity and increase efficiency and speed of service provided" management says the student.
As the study points out, the implementation of such a system would meet the various costs incurred by the decision units of HUS, information that would be of great importance for decision making of management's own hospital, and thus improving the efficiency in the management of public services.
Cardós, after graduating UPCT, has started a Masters in Health Management and plans already in the completion of a doctoral thesis which will build on research conducted at the TFG.
"The need for cost control in any company or entity is an indisputable fact, which should be taken into consideration in all areas of economic management, with special relevance in the public sector," the guardian of work.
