For three days, almost 300 delegates from around the world will present and discuss the projects, trends and advanced techniques in underwater archeology
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, through the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology-ARQUA organizes the 5th International Congress on Underwater Archaeology IKUWA V from 15 to 19 October in Cartagena (Murcia).
The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday October 16 at 10:15 in the Auditorium of the Hospital Corps of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, giving partner institution headquartered and various services.
They will participate in the opening ceremony of the Heritage Protection deputy director of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Cape Elisa;
the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Jose Antonio Franco Leemhuis;
the head of the Department of Education in the Government Office Region of Murcia, María Isabel Ruiz;
the Councillor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, Rosario Montero;
director of the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology ARQUA Ivan Negueruela;
and Congress President Hanz G. Martin.
For three days, in three different rooms, the nearly 300 delegates will present and discuss projects, trends and advanced techniques in underwater archeology.
IKUWA is one of the most important conferences of underwater archeology internationally, since its first edition in 1999 Saanitz (Germany).
The following took place in Zurich (2004), London (2008) and Croatia (2011).
Each edition of this congress come the best underwater archaeologists and the most prestigious international experts on the subject.
