The Local Government of the City of Cartagena this morning approved the expungement of about 550 books deposited in the Auxiliary Library Municipal Archives that have ceased to be of interest and will be offered free to the public before its destruction.
As explained by the Councillor for Culture and Education, Rosario Montero, it's printed works, of which 90 percent are collections of law or legal texts that have ceased to have effect and lack of interest, since you can access them directly from other sources, she added the councilor.
Repeated a number of copies of publications such as books, catalogs or brochures on various topics are also included.
Montero has reported that before its destruction will be exposed in the auxiliary library Municipal Archives for citizens to view and take them for free.
It is likely that even if they lack an objective and historical interest to the Municipal Archives, these books may be of interest to a particular city, Councilwoman apostille.
The process of weeding is done according to the councilor to gain space in municipal libraries, in order to offer higher interest to other citizens.
In this sense, the mayor pointed awards recently received by public libraries including the National Prize for the Promotion of Reading through Mandarache project;
and most recently granted by the editors at the International Book Fair.
