The mayor, Pilar Barreiro, held this afternoon a meeting with Defence Minister Peter Morenés, during his visit to the city, which has opened the course in the School of Marine and General Albacete Fuster and Congress Naval and Maritime Engineering.
The minister has met for about an hour with the mayor, in his office at Town Hall.
During the meeting, they reviewed issues affecting ministry Cartagena and have specially noted the progress of the investment in the improvement and modernization of the submarine weapon through the hull of the Tramontana and the construction of the S-80.
Morenés has shown its confidence in the final result of S-80 submarines, despite the difficulties presented by the initial development of the prototype and said he was convinced that Navantia will make a magnificent underwater for the Spanish Armada that places Spain's shipbuilding industry and Cartagena at the head of other industries.
The minister used his visit for the Town Hall offices and public rooms which have been shown by the mayor.
Morenés, which has been accompanied by the delegate of the Government, Joaquín Bascuñana, has been concerned by the constant references that exist in the building to people and events relating to the history of the armed forces, highlighting the continued attachment of the city ​​with the military.
