The sailing enthusiasts have a new date this weekend in the harbor, the V City of Cartagena Trophy classes Optimist, Laser 4.7 and 420, within the program of activities of the Nautical Week in the city, organized by the Real Club Regatta Cartagena in collaboration with the City Council through the Department of Sports.
Precisely the mayor of the area, Diego Ortega, has accompanied Racing Club president and technical director Eduardo Gallego and Miguel Celdran, respectively, in the Trophy presentation Wednesday.
Celdrán stressed that this is one more event, organized by the Yacht Club to promote water sports in the city.
For the trophy, held on 11 and 12 October, have already signed a hundred boats, most of the Optimist class, ie, children 8 to 15 years, of which about 30 are Cartagena, which demonstrating the growing taste for candle in Cartagena.
According to Eduardo Gallego, the original idea was to get this trophy sailing into the street, show everyone the fleet, as a kind of small Audi Med Cup, and in this sense, next year we will have three days of competition, in instead of just two, and we involving sailors from other countries, we have a field of exceptional racing and in the future we host any international event.
For his part, Councillor for Sports has revealed the importance that organizations like the Real Club de Regatas have to promote the sport in the city, sailing in this case, providing an experience and organizational skills without which , events like this weekend would not be possible.
