With one click of Cartagena will also support the candidacy of our city as Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2015, an award that recognizes the promotion of culinary tourism, defense of traditional cuisine and dissemination of quality food products.
The departments of Tourism and Trade of the City have begun a campaign in which citizens have to fill out a simple form to support the city.
Through the website of the City, cartagena.es , citizens can access this form so we join the campaign, as will the institutions of the region.
We will fight all for Cartagena to reach the top, because it is a big boost and national projection of our city and the local cuisine, and that no citizen would not be possible, explained this morning the Councillor for Tourism , Palazón Carolina.
The support of institutions and organizations, and ultimately, the entire city, this campaign is one of the requirements to qualify for this award, as well as the incorporation of new features on the agenda next year.
These new activities will be included in the dossier that the City must submit by October, in addition to other events that have taken place over recent years.
In this path the city in traditional cuisine and raw materials will also be reflected.
The nomination for this award was approved last Friday, the 12th, in the Local Government of the City at the invitation of the Tourism Institute of Spain, Turespaña.
Logroño, Burgos and Vitoria-Gasteiz are some Spanish cities already boast this distinction, which adds to the tourist attractions of each city.
The Spanish title of Gastronomy Capital is an initiative of the Spanish Federation of Hospitality (FEHR) and the Spanish Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers (FEPET) and managed by CEG SL.
The jury will be composed of leading tourism professionals (Turespaña, FITUR, Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces FEMP, Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies, Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality), hospitality (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, FEHR, Taste Spain, Euro-Toques European Chefs, Restaurants Centennial Circle and Youth Restorers), communication (tourism journalists FEPET) and institutional representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Turespa.
The city chosen will be officially launched on January 29 at Fitur.
