The president of the Community, Alberto Garre, the Minister of Industry, Juan Carlos Ruiz, and the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, this morning visited facilities in Navantia Cartagena in order to hear at first hand the work done by the submarines S 80 and S-74.
During the visit they were accompanied by accompanied by the president of the company, J ose Manuel Revuelta, and the director of the shipyard, Admiral José Manuel Sanjurjo.
Currently, one of the most important units that working in this factory is the shipyard with the programs of these submarines which now works at a good pace, explained the president, namely, four submarines ships S-80 built for the Navy, the large fairing Tramontana and 6 vessels in which they are working for India.
The visit took place a month after the start of the repair work of the great hull of the Tramontana, which now are immersed in it about 300 workers.
With these works, life will last at least 5 years.
Right now, the company is carrying out repairs up to 11 ships at the same time and have a very important response capacity, noted the president.
Garre also stressed this morning on job creation resulting company in the region: In the past year has involved 7,000 indirect jobs and 1,200 direct.
It is a leading company in research and development as well as being one of the factories that turn many countries to build vessels in this category, concluded Garre.
