Bilbao City Council participated in a working meeting of the RECI (19/09/2014)

Councillor of Greater Social Care, Antonio Calderon, Bilbao attended the 7th Day Network Working Intercultural Cities of Spain (RECI), held on Wednesday 17 September, and part Cartagena, together with the municipal unit responsible for Immigrants and the Development Cooperation Department, Lucia Hernandez.

A working day attended technical and political representatives of the cities of San Sebastian, Bilbao, Fuenlabrada, Parla, Barcelona, ​​Getxo, Jerez, Sabadell, Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Tenerife, Castellón and Cartagena. The attendance of the political representatives of the different cities was used by the Council of Europe to formalize the establishment of the Network of Intercultural Cities, with an official photo and holding a discussion on Managing Diversity as Political Challenge, coordinated by the representative of the Council of Europe.

The RECI was established in 2011 with the initial participation of 9 cities, which in recent months have been incorporated and Santa Coloma de Castellón Gramanet.

The accession of Cartagena Network it was approved by the Governing Board in May 2011. Centre University Pompau Fabra, later, in April 2014, the partnership of the city and the Council of Europe was signed, act formalized this Wednesday in Bilbao.

The RECI is part of the European Project Intercultural CITIES, where the City Council is committed to:

Recognizing the potential and value of immigration and diversity as an asset to the city.

Adopting an intercultural perspective in relevant aspects of municipal politics.
