To celebrate the two thousandth anniversary of the death of Emperor Augustus, the Roman Theatre Museum and the University of Murcia organized a seminar to pay tribute to one of the most important figures in ancient history.
During assist the City of Cartagena, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Cartagena Port of Cultures.
It will be on Wednesday 22 October to Saturday 25 of this month in time from 19 to 21 pm and Saturday from 10 to 14 hours, and will be held in the Auditorium of the Museum of the Roman Theatre.
It was on 19 August this year when two-thousandth anniversary of the death of Emperor Augustus in the Italian city of Nola was fulfilled.
Despite objections from a modern perspective might arise and proceed to their work, the legacy of their political, cultural and developer work in Rome and the provinces of the Roman state is unique and laid the foundations of the nascent imperial regime.
In his travels to Spain, in particular the second and third, vertébro territory, adopted administrative and fiscal measures, modified and established community boundaries, created new towns and granted legal advocacy understood as a gift that depended on their own will and not the state.
His work had a depth developer that hardly finds parallel in other periods.
Cartagena was no exception to this dynamic, and after the colonial era promotion of Pompey Magnus, experienced in times of princeps commercial urbanization drive, monumentalizador, administrative and culminating to consolidate it in expression of T. Livio, as one of the most opulent cities of Hispania (urbs opulentissima omnium Hispania).
Much of the cultural and archaeological heritage emanating from that past is a historical legacy to the modern city and a precious heritage to boost its tourism and economic development.
This course tribute is paid to the princeps in which it was the capital of conventus Carthaginiensis of Nearer Spain and we are approaching some of the aspects of its political, cultural and developer work.
The seminar is supplemented by guided much of his legacy in Cartagena with a tour of the Museum of the Roman Theatre, the District Forum and Avgvsteum visits.
