The performance part of the Program for Conservation and Adaptation of Facades, Roofs and Walls of the Department of Development, which has invested more than two million in the city of Cartagena
The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Planning has invested 175,000 euros starting in restoring property in Cartagena, in order to contribute to the recovery and conservation of the architectural and urban heritage of the region.
This is a grant that is part of the Conservation Program and Adequacy of Facades, Roofs and Walls to the Department of Development develops in different municipalities in the region.
In the city of Cartagena has been allocated an amount of 2,070,000 euros in the last seven years.
There are seven properties subject to this intervention, located in the streets Doctor Tapia, Carmen, Montanaro, Villamartin and Jara and the San Francisco square, which is handling the recruitment process works.
The works will include the adequacy of facades, roofs and medians of properties listed historic center of Cartagena.
The procedure involves the removal of distorting elements of the building envelope, and the replacement of items that are in bad shape, recovering and highlighting the essential features and characteristics of the properties.
Recovery of 34 properties
The property included in a new phase of the plan, stand as evidence of the eclectic and modernist residential architecture that characterizes and identifies the historic center of Cartagena, as the compositional criteria of the facades, the type and proportion of the voids, the configuration and design of balconies and verandas, ornamental motifs or materials used up the most characteristic and significant urban image of the city.
The work belongs to the collaboration between the Ministry and the Municipality of Cartagena for the conservation and improvement of facades, roofs and medians, ranging from 2007 to the present and includes an investment of 2,760,000 euros, of which the Community has contributed 2,070,000 euros and the City, 690,000 euros.
As part of that agreement, has intervened in 34 properties from Cartagena to value its essential features and characteristics, removing or replacing elements distorting their own identity.
Incentive for Recovery of Old
The program has a dual purpose heritage: the conservation of buildings, with characteristics that deem fit their protection and conservation, and restoration of the image of the historic city, through the rehabilitation of the facades of the buildings of interest .
The Department of Development developed this program from 1996 to the enhancement of the hallmarks of urban residential architecture that characterizes the city of Cartagena.
The program was developed through financing agreements between the regional government and the city, by which the Community subsidizes 75 percent of the investment and the remaining 25 percent, the City.
