The Planning Commission of the City of Cartagena agreed Thursday to lead a full institutional statement to manifest and declare support for-Affected Users Association of Levante Beach in Cabo de Palos and the Association of Residents of the coastal town in order to solve the problems of households affected by the current delimitation of the sea shore in the seafront of that beach, so that they can finish the work in that ride.
Would combine under the premise of protecting the coast, with the environment, the demarcation, concessions or legal certainty, this institutional statement states that we must not lose sight of the fact that over the competing interests involved in often maritime-terrestrial public domain, it must always be ensured their public nature and conserve its natural features, reconciling the demands of development with protection requirements, as established by the Coastal Act.
In addition, it also recalls that actions aimed at realizing the desire of neighbors Levante Beach, and began years ago with institutional manifestations of the three Administrations affected, such as the city of Cartagena, the region and the Administration State, which led to the implementation of initiatives to adapt the delimitation of maritime-terrestrial public domain and solve the problem of housing affected by the current definition, but the circumstances leading to the cessation of this initiative.
Now the goal is to re-implement it, so that they can undertake activities in the area, always reconciling the protection of the marine landscape with tourism development and the interests of the owners concerned.
