While advancing the excavation works in the court room, efforts continue to discover the murals that decorated the rooms, in order to complete the works in September and open the new part to the public throughout the last quarter
The commitment of the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Culture and Tourism, for bringing to light all the rich heritage of the Roman Forum continues to give results, in view of the progress in the work that archaeologists are carrying out both recovery of wall paintings found in the rooms of the atrium, and the excavation of these rooms and the Roman road that runs along the north of the building of baths and banquets.
Currently, tasks are focused on finalizing the gateway that will allow visitors to tour the site in height, Gateway has taken shape with the welding work. Regarding the Immediate excavation, next week will have its epicenter in rooms 13 and 14 of the atrium building.
The goal is to finish the work in September and open to the public the new part over the last quarter, so that the result is the recovery of three rooms of Roman building and be able to make the tour of the forum circular , entering and exiting the roadway near the hot springs, which, according to the mayor of Culture, Rosario Montero, plus an added attraction for visitors to come to know one of the star fields of the city.
The draft Neighbourhood excavation of the Roman Forum, which is being conducted in phases, is the result of agreement between the Repsol Foundation and the City of Cartagena via Port of Cultures.
