The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the Minister of Industry, Tourism, Enterprise and Innovation, Juan Carlos Ruiz, visited this afternoon the r efinería Repsol Valley tailings, to see first hand the different projects developed especially those aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.
The mayor and the counselor have been accompanied on his visit by the principal of the Refinery, Juan Antonio Carrillo de Albornoz, with other deputy directors of the complex, they will have provided all kinds of explanations for its operation.
In a brief appearance before the media the mayor pointed out the importance of this for Cartagena refinery and Spain, as well as being one of the most advanced in the world, was the largest industrial investment in the history of our country.
Pos his part, Juan Carlos Ruiz, stressed the role of regional and attractiveness of new investments, such as Sksol.
Asked by the reporter, the director of the refinery has noted the good progress of environmental projects.
The refinery tailings generated over 1,600 jobs: 800 of them directly involving about 115 million in wages.
Right now develops projects to reduce emissions by 22 percent between 2011 and 2016 and for which plans to spend about 41 million euros.
