The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has achieved that state programs R & D financed from two million euros 16 research projects in the first of this kind calls for working out in the past two years.
"In a particularly competitive scenario, by trimming the state investment in research, UPCT has achieved a rate of more than 50% of the projects submitted successfully, confirming two of the features that distinguish it in the rankings of universities: their high scientific production and its ability to obtain public and private funding for research, "says Pablo Fernández, Vice Chancellor for Research.
Among the approved projects is that of 'Participation in the payload processing center and satellite data Euclid', with the School of Telecommunication UPCT (ETSIT) is collaborating with the European Space Agency which will have 850,000 euros of the State Program for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research Excellence.
School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIT) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has also been approved five projects.
The Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer Projects that will improve the efficiency of nanostructured solar cells and develop new circuits and antennas with advanced materials for satellites, the Department of Information Technologies and Communications of millimeter wave modeling for communication systems and image or create schemes that cooperative intelligence for emerging technologies and a platform in the Cloud for drones.
Of the 16 projects approved UPCT six were presented by the School of Agricultural Engineering (ETSIA).
"Only Madrid Agricultural Schools have achieved a similar number of projects approved," said the director of the ETSIA, Alejandro Pérez Pastor.
Researchers evaluated ETSIA adaptation measures to climate change, wireless sensors designed for deficit irrigation of fruit, genetically analyze the development of the petals of flowers, plants evaluated with the toxicity of mining waste heat treatments validated conservation optimize food and vegetables smoothies.
The School of Industrial (ETSII) has got the approval of four projects: improvement of the efficiency of refrigeration systems and cooling of photovoltaic installations and air conditioning equipment;
provision of complementary services in electrical systems;
design of gear drives by reverse engineering and microfabrication using 3D printing deposition of droplets.
The funding obtained by the sum UPCT an investment of 2,066,200 euros of call 2013 R + D + I of the state program for 'Research, Development and Innovation oriented societal challenges' and state applet' Generation Knowledge '.
Two other research projects Cartagena Polytechnic are pending, so the results of resolved calls could still be improved in June.
