Effective Fire Station City of Cartagena this morning rescued six people from a building located halfway up the Alfonso XIII of Dolores Street, which was hit by arson about dumpsters.
The incident occurred about two in the morning and its extinction was complicated to extend l to a car and then turn the rush of electricity and natural gas property.
Due to heat, gas pipes and electricity melted, causing a leak, sparks and continuous explosions, generating a flame about three feet high that firefighters could not fully extinguish, since in that case the gas is introduced into the building hazardous.
The fire affected the facades of the ground floor and two buildings, especially windows and shutters.
Only one of them was inhabited and its people, four adults and two children, had taken refuge on the roof waiting to be rescued.
Tasks focused on firefighters control the fire and cool the facades of the three buildings to prevent from spreading to the interior, while notice was given to the electric company to cut the light and tried to open the manhole cover gas , which had been melted by the heat.
The performance lasted about two hours.
A firefighter by a car scale gained access to the roof and people moved to the back, until a cut see the light and got gas and were able to extinguish the fire down the stairs.
The incident also involved the local police who cordoned off the area and took charge of the situation after the departure of the fire department.
