The promotion of entrepreneurship in the Polytechnic University of Cartagena knows no boundaries and extends to university cooperation projects with the UPCT collaborates with academic institutions in Central America.
The most recent example is the thesis on academic spin-off of Costa Rica read this month's Faculty of Business.
And the most ambitious project in Nicaragua to create a center of technological innovation and entrepreneurship reference for the entire region.
The thesis Mauricio Monge Aguero evaluator of research projects of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, was rated outstanding cum laude.
Directed by professors Juan Antonio Briones UPCT Penalver and Domingo García Pérez de Lema, research has characterized 44 academic spin-off (offs from universities) in Costa Rica, identifying the profile of the academic entrepreneur and the factors of its growth.
"It is a growing phenomenon and has the ability to transform the technological structure of the region through innovation," said Monge.
Personal fulfillment
"These are companies that are not possible without the academic research and the support of the university," says the researcher, who alert recurrent problems: "The business management is not well regarded in academia and many entrepreneurs end up leaving college teaching" .
However, "those who stay in college, teachers recognize that their lessons are enriched by the entrepreneurial experience and generate a great example of entrepreneurship," Monge says.
The study concludes that teachers and student entrepreneurs "express a high level of personal satisfaction and self-actualization."
UPCT coordinated the inter-university cooperation project of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) has allowed Monge research stays at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, where he has been provided accommodation, training in data analysis and access to documentary service of the University.
What has enabled you to publish up to six research articles since his dissertation three years ago.
The Polytechnic University of Cartagena hits since 2007 interuniversity cooperation projects in Central America with the support of AECID, which has introduced a bill in Nicaragua to create a space for innovation and development, to become the reference technology-based entrepreneurship for the entire region.
