The Roman Theatre Museum from Thursday hosts the International Congress on Greek Orality and Literature in the Roman Empire. Through a series of presentations by various experts in this field, especially prose addresses at this time from a philological and historical approach .
Until Saturday, May 31, these conferences will be held in the auditorium of the Museum.
Yesterday was inaugurated with the presence of Carmen Batres Marín, Director General of Cultural and Artistic Education CARM, Rosario Montero, Councillor for Culture, M ª Ã Consuelo Alvarez, director of the Department of Classical Philology at University of Murcia;
and Consuelo Ruiz, coordinator of the Congress and Professor of Greek at the University of Murcia.
The conference involves teachers and researchers from 14 renowned European and American universities.
In addition to the conference sessions are scheduled visits to museums and monuments of the city, as the same Teatro Romano, the Neighbourhood Forum and ARQUA and a visit to Cabo de Palos and Mar Menor where texts will be reviewed Pray for Avieno.
The proceedings will be published in a volume of the Pierides (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle, UK) series, whose editors are Ph. Hardie (University of Cambridge) and S. Kyriakidis (Univ. of Thessaloniki).
