The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, this morning held a working meeting in the Town Hall with Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Rafael Catala, leveraging their stay in the city.
Barreiro and Catala have reviewed the various issues that the city in terms of infrastructure, including the Mediterranean Corridor and the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena.
The secretary of state has said that there is a high priority to develop the projects of the Mediterranean corridor of goods and passengers between Murcia and Cartagena.
He also noted that working in coordination between ADIF and other authorities for the implementation of the third thread which will allow high speed arrival to Cartagena, for passengers and freight.
He would not give dates but commented that in 2015 is scheduled to arrive in Murcia and from there its extension to Cartagena
Later they visited the land on which the future AVE station near the Mall Mandarache be installed.
According to the mayor, Catalan has been shown the centrality of the land with respect to the city and good communication, making it an ideal place for this purpose.
