The Community held tomorrow at the European Maritime Day Cartagena (DME).
On that occasion have organized various advocacy and networking, in order to increase the visibility of the fields in this area and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs.
"The Region of Murcia has joined the European Maritime Day celebration to reflect the importance of the sea in our daily lives and in the economy and job creation, especially in a maritime region as Murcia," said presidential adviser and Employment Jose Gabriel Ruiz.
To do this, under the title 'The sea, source of wealth and life', has plans to hold a wide range of events in Cartagena, to attract the participation of all groups in the region: school, college, professional, business the shipping industry and transportation, and the general public.
José Gabriel Ruiz said that "the event organized by the Community has been included in the official program of the European Commission, which is visible to the Region of Murcia, through the city of Cartagena and its port."
In its design and organization have worked together Directorate General for Citizen Participation, European Union and Foreign Affairs of the Presidential and Employment, the Port Authority, the City of Cartagena and Marine Technology Center of the Sea (cTNM).
The European Maritime Day activities in the region begin Monday morning with the Workshop on Innovation in the maritime shipping industry and sustainable maritime transport for professionals and companies, organized with the cTNM.
On Tuesday, 20 took place the Open Day at the Port of Cartagena, with educational visits catamaran aimed at the general public and organized by the Port Authority of Cartagena.
In addition, the Europamovil that day, which is a European point of information EuropeDirect Center Murcia, will be installed at the Port of Cartagena.
The 'blue growth', center of the seventh edition of DME
The presidential adviser said that, as in the region, "all activities of the European Maritime Day 2014 will revolve around innovation and maritime technologies, as a contribution to the objectives of the so-called 'blue growth', a long-term supporting the sustainable growth of the marine and maritime sectors, as engine of the European economy for its great potential for innovation and development. This commemoration was officially established on May 20, 2008, by a Joint Declaration between the European Parliament, the EU Council and European Commission.
The 'European Maritime Day' is celebrated annually on 20 May, with the main objective to highlight the crucial role that oceans and seas play in the everyday life of the inhabitants of coastal areas and all EU citizens and their contribution to sustainable growth and employment in Europe.
"The main event is the European Maritime Day Conference, which takes place in a different region each year., 2014 will be the seventh edition of this remembrance, this time has been on the German city of Bremen," said José Gabriel Ruiz .
This platform brings together the entire maritime community in Europe, with industry professionals from across the EU and responsible for driving legislation to discuss best practices.
Participants come from ports, the maritime transport, clusters, environmental organizations, trade unions, industry and scientific research institutions, educational institutions, and local, regional, national and European authorities, among others.
