The T-LA (Alternative Leisure) program of the Youth Council, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena within your project LIFE11 BIO/ES727 has scheduled an interpretative path Garbancillo and volcanoes Tallante environment, which will place on Sunday, May 11th, departing at 8:30 am by bus from the Youth Resource Center.
The route passes through an area where the protagonist is the habitat of Astragalus nitidiflorus, popularly known as Garbancillo Tallante, species thought to be extinct until 2004, when he returned to be discovered by the biologist Sergio Martinez.
This plant inhabits associated volcanic type soils with near dry crops and alkali basaltic materials.
The Garbancillo Tallante is worldwide exclusively in the town of Cartagena, particularly in the vicinity of the towns and ports of Tallante Santa Barbara, constituting one of the many endemic species that can be found in the region of Murcia.
