The coordinator and spokesman UPyD in Cartagena, Pedro de Elizalde, has been in favor of the creation of a Museum of Underwater Weapon in the port city.
To Elizalde, "is a claim with a lot of projection for the city, since there is no other facility in Spain as proposed."
As explained by the local coordinator of the magenta training, "Cartagena gave birth to the inventor of the submarine and houses not only the only Submarine Base Spain, but also the Dive Center of the Navy and the shipyards where they are manufactured and repaired."
"Linking the city with the underwater Weapon" Elizalde continued, "is also reinforced with the hundreds of workers who have historically worked in these sectors."
UPyD Cartagena believes that "the city has some very valid existing facilities to house this museum", such as underwater tunnels El Espalmador.
In these two tunnels, "one may expose the underwater dolphin, which is discharged by the Navy and the other to prepare musealization, including simulators, weapons, equipment, etc ...".
Also, magenta training says staff own both the Navy and Navantia, who have worked over the years on submarines, along with the guides, "could explain the facilities with their life experiences and facilitate visits are dramatized ".
In conclusion, Pedro de Elizalde understands that this museum should be done "with all studies necessary technical and economic feasibility", within the context of Cartagena city tour and high archaeological, cultural and military heritage and concerts by the Ministry of Defence , region and city hall.
