The Minister of Education, Universities and Employment, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, chaired this week the Governing Board of the Consortium for the partner institution of the National University of Distance Education in the proposal made by the headquarters of the Open University of naming was confirmed new director Dr. Manuel Dominguez Somonte.
Dominguez Somonte, industrial engineer and professor at the UNED, Juan Antonio Canovas replaces Moreno, who has been leading the university distance education in the region during the past seven years and that the work is appreciated.
The Governing Board, which also was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the Open University Centers, Tomás Fernández, the budget for this year's partner institution, which provides the Autonomous Region € 140,000 was also approved.
The Centre of the Open University in Cartagena has three extensions in Lorca, Yecla and Caravaca de la Cruz, and hosts a total of 6100 students in the 2013-14 year.
The educational institution offers twenty official university degrees, the course of access to the University for over 25 years as well as language courses.

Dr. Manuel Dominguez is Somonte Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and currently a professor at the University in the School of Industrial Engineering at the UNED.
It's been five years UNED representative on the Board of Associate Rector Castellón Center.
It also has an experience of 30 years as a university professor, an activity which he has combined with his work as an engineer in the private sector in leading technology companies in the Spanish industrial sector.
