Start the XVII edition of between strings and brass (14/03/2014)

Monday begins the cycle semifinals of the competition organized by the Youth Council and the Conservatory of Music, in which 151 young people try to show their acting talent in the different types of instruments

The XVII edition of the competition between strings and brass, each year jointly organized by the Youth Council and the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena, starts on Monday March 17th with the start of the semifinals of the competition cycle, which this year involved 151 young people show their acting talent in the ways mental wind, percussion, strings, voice, woodwinds, flamenco, piano and guitar.

This year, as a new mode has been included, the flamenco guitar in their specialties and flamenco, the concert will be on April 23.

The competition consists o f two phases, a playoff and final concerts taking place during the months of March and opened l, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena.

Admission to the concert will be free until all seats.

The young participants, who must be pursuing professional music instrument with which they compete, perform two classical pieces of free choice of different styles, both being edited.

As for the awards, a total of 8,800 euros will be distributed, establishing a first prize in each of the modes of 750 euros and a second of 350 euros.

It's also a special mention to young Value to motivate younger participants, where each of the methods called, the jury may consider granting a mention of students under 15 years, so recognizing their work and performance quality.

The Awards Ceremony and Closing Concert will be held on May 9 in Room A of the Auditorium and Congress Batel, a place where he will announce the jury's verdict on each of the modalities.

At the awards ceremony, Paula Bernal Puche (I prize in the piano last year's competition) will perform the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra Op 50, No. 3 Kabalevsk and, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena , closing the ceremony Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena.
