Four students from the Faculty of Business UPCT have created the web browser EncuentraSport.com.
This is a web project that will allow anyone with internet search all of sports Cartagena (gyms, clubs, swimming pools) and compare (price, time, location).
The business idea and in 2011 won the Entrepreneurship Award and is a pioneer in the field of sports services.
Encuentrasport is the first Junior Enterprise UPCT arising from the Faculty of Business, a format designed specifically for corporate business development of university students.
After several years of work, the project of these enterprising students finally starts moving permanently.
Students who have created the junior company, Jose Alberto García, Lucía García, Alejandro López and Alberto Suarez received support and advice from the UPCT.
The search is directed to any resident of or around Cartagena to practice or want to practice any sport and you want to search or compare information.
Operation
The user can type in the search your address or zip code and search for sport category, days of the week activity, price, age, time and keywords, for example, the name of a center shuttle.
The search includes the geographical location of the centers in the radius indicated by the user using Google Maps and a table with all the information that is within the selected criteria.
The search engine offers information for all gyms, clubs, sports centers, schools, swimming pools and sports associations that offer.
It even includes places accessible, as the baskets located in public parks.
Business model and social responsibility
Encuentrasport offers a free service to users of the web, and also sports services companies listed on it.
These companies get a totally free communication platform.
Thus, the only income comes from advertisers of the website, which can not be sportswear companies services (this is considered an entirely separate company).
With regard to corporate social responsibility, born EncuentraSport strongly committed to supporting actions to charity.
Therefore expected to annually allocate 50% of the advertising revenues from advertisers or sponsors, organizations working to help the poor.
The EncuentraSport.com business project began to take shape in 2010, when the Seneca Foundation of Murcia supported a project to study the competitiveness of sports services Cartagena.
The idea evolved into the creation of a company which would promote the competitiveness and providing citizens with the decision to use these services.
In 2011 the project won the Entrepreneurship competition among University Students.
The award, organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the UPCT, consisted of an endowment which, together with the financing of the Seneca Foundation of Murcia and counseling and support has enabled UPCT students complete their enterprise project.
