Technical Agency for Local Development and Employment and the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena, attended the 4th and 5th of March at the launch meeting of the Diversity project in the Local Economy and Integration (DELI), held in the Office of the Council of Europe in Brussels.
Next to Cartagena, in the project, which is funded by the Directorate General of Internal Affairs of the European Commission and has a budget of 1,143,760 euros, involved nine more cities, Bucharest (RO), Dublin (IE), Getxo ( s), Lisbon (PT), Lewisham London (UK), Reggio Emilia (IT), Rotterdam (ND) and Vienna (AT).
The project will end on June 30, 2015 and will involve in achieving its objectives to all local actors, among which is Cartagena, which has been judged to participate in it as a member of the European Network of Intercultural Cities RECI and have experience in advising companies of immigrants through the ALDE.
Through this initiative is to analyze the business contribution of immigrants to the local economy, hence the ims or project, among others, are:
Facilitating entrepreneurship of immigrants and how they contribute to the creation of employment and wealth for the local economy.
Implementing diversity management policies to facilitate companies immigrant access to public and private procedures.
Identify barriers or difficulties entrepreneurship of immigrants, implementing new strategies and best practices.
Encourage the participation of immigrant businesses in local activities and standardized processes.
To value the diversity management in companies as a competitive advantage and profitability for companies also contribute to the integration and generation of local wealth.
To achieve these objectives, DELI raises several actions to carry out, among which establish a local platform with local entities and agents, conduct a strategic local action plan to boost entrepreneurship of immigrants, their barriers and encourage equal procedures, establish quality standards that facilitate management to local governments implementing these measures diversity.
To help achieve these objectives, MPG Migration Policy Group is the European entity that supports the project to the Council of Europe and be responsible for providing the tools and evaluate the implementation.
