Astrada is already working on the draft of which will be its second center care for people with autism spectrum disorder in the region, the first is located in Molina de Segura, whose headquarters will be in Cartagena, particularly in an area of 15,000 meters square, facing the Park Security provided by the Council.
This is a Comprehensive Center, which will house a Residence to assist people severely affected, a day center, for whom the educational stage, where workshops will be held to learn basic social skills and offer the possibility to have completed participating in supported employment programs, and finally, the center will have a Housing Bridge, which will transition for users who are prepared can happen to live in the city fully integrated in society.
Just to explain the details of this draft, the CEO of Astrada, José Manuel Santos, and parent representatives of this organization serving people with autism, have held a meeting Wednesday with the mayor, Pilar Barreiro, which have thanked the transfer of municipal land that will enable the construction of the facilities of the association in Cartagena.
The meeting was also attended by the Councillor for Social Care, Antonio Calderon.
In addition, Santos has announced that, for this reason, the board of the association has decided unanimously to grant the City one of the awards each year Astrada empower individuals and institutions, with their performances, assist in improving the quality of life for people with autism.
Currently, Astrada serves more than 120 users in the area of Cartagena, at the regional level the figure is 360 people, a number that is growing exponentially. Every week we received about 4 calls in the Association, and of these, between one and two are from this area, noted José Manuel Santos.
This attention in the town, is being made ​​from a center in Quarry, also provided by the Council, where activities speech therapy, social skills and respite services are carried, to which the work of therapists we must add that Association has displaced schools, 150 in the region, to work with autistic kids in their environment.
Our goal, as stated Astrada director, began as achieve integration, and we succeeded, which now fighting for inclusion, that kids can live with children his age.
