This week we have started the first activities for the call and incorporating youth Youth Guarantee l pilot promoted by the City Council through the Agency of Local Development and Employment and the Department of Youth project.

This initiative, funded by the European Union, was born last December with the creation of a cooperation network stable in participating public employment services, business organizations, educational as well as representatives of youth, in order to promote actions coordinated to allow a group of 120 young people aged between 16 and 24 have access to good jobs, continuing education, apprenticeship training or employment practices within a maximum period of four months beginning their participation in the Project.

In order to capture the 80 young people who will participate in the first round of the pilot project to be launched in the month of March, the drivers of the Youth Guarantee in Cartagena have developed six meetings this week to present the project to several groups that involved a total of 140 young people who have been shortlisted through IES Polytechnic, the Regional Employment and Training (SEF) of the Autonomous Community and the Youth Council of Cartagena Rascasa in collaboration with the Association, The Collective Huertecica, CEFIS and Minera Sierra Foundation, together with the municipal social services.

Presentation sessions, which were held at the Employment Office of the SEF in Cartagena and in the Youth Resource Centre, have had a first part entitled Lead your future career has focused the attention of the attendees at the importance of improving their employability, develop talents and personal strengths through constant effort, a plan of action which will make the goals to which they aspire in the workplace and identify the strategy to achieve them.

The second part of these sessions focused on explaining the details of the project in Cartagena Youth Guarantee and guidance activities and personal guidance, education and training will be developed with young people participating in this initiative.

The project foresees the participation of three groups of young people.

The first will consist of young people who have recently completed their stage of formal education, while the second will be found composed registered as unemployed in the SEF with antiques minimum six months old youth and, finally, a third group of young people who are in a situation of inactivity for a longer period.
