The manager responsible for UPyD Cartagena, Pedro Martínez, said that among the many institutions that lacks Cartagena, highlights "the absence of an aquarium that allows to develop educational work, conduct research and develop conservation programs endangered species. "
In addition, Pedro Martinez has indicated that the construction of an aquarium, together with the facilities such as the ARQUA, "would be a continuity necessary to really take the place that corresponds to Cartagena."
In this sense, Martinez lamented that "there is not an aquarium in the most important port city of the region" when the marine reserve of the Ants, Cabo de Palos and maritime fishing and commercial activity is located in Cartagena.
Since UPD Cartagena "we think it is necessary to build an aquarium in the port city", in which you can carry out educational activities (practices and graduate), specialization courses and research (maintenance and reproduction of species), and other projects .
Finally, the magenta training in Cartagena also believes that "these activities should be supervised by the Technical University of Cartagena," and to be in times of crisis, "we mean to include installations containing representation of communities in the Mediterranean Sea and others dedicated to play the smaller Sea ".
The possibility of extending the facilities should "be based on management function and the results of the first years of operation."
