The Municipal Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro will reopen on Tuesday, January 28th, after completion of the works that have been ongoing since last December, in its false ceiling, in order to improve its appearance, give you more natural lighting to center field and make it safer.
The Museum, which was used by 26,005 people in 2013, has been ranked among the 7 most popular of the Region of Murcia, next to the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, which tops the list, the Archaeology of Murcia, the Museum of Fine Arts or the housed.
Of these visitors, most, 23,045, were Spaniards and other foreigners.
Meanwhile, the Museum website has enjoyed great success and has seen the number of inquiries, which has grown from 137,659 in 2012 to 165,857 last year 2013.
To start this new journey of the renovated Museum, the same Tuesday at 10 am, the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, will appear before the media at the premises of the museum to present an educational guide on Latin epigraphy, of which this center has a large collection of inscriptions on tombstones.
The opening to the public is the Archaeological Museum, Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 to 14.00 h and from 17.00 to 20.00, and Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 to 14.00 h.
REMODELING "INTERIOR
The works carried out in recent weeks in the Museum have focused on repairing the false ceiling above the central Roman necropolis, as the plates that formed it, installed in the late 70s, were run down and threatening to fall, which posed a problem for the safety of users.
So, with this performance, which was conducted during the months of December and January to be the lowest number of visitors, s and have replaced the old plates for plasterboard walls and has enabled a new skylight, thereby enhancing the appearance of the site and natural lighting.
