Continuing his round of visits castañeras l as the Virgin of Charity neighborhood yesterday passed Tuesday with grandparents Day Center Los Dolores.
Dressed in traditional costumes, scarf and neckerchief including the castañeras shared their joy and, of course, their homemade sweets, which the elders were very willingly.
The chestnuts, figure that dates back to the nineteenth century and even today symbolize the arrival of autumn, were mature women who, year after year, seeking shelter to shelter from the cold to sell chestnuts in exchange for a few coins.
Clothed to endure low temperatures they turned around, again and again, bouncy and crunchy nuts.
