Moreover, as explained by Miguel Martinez, the educational institution is working in collaboration with the University UPCT and Hassan II in Morocco, to establish a postgraduate degree, while on the other side, and together with the Instituto Cervantes, is seeks to enhance the language tourism.
The Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, governed by a board, is a center for advanced studies and graduate degrees (over forty), with special emphasis on the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
It has twelve branches spread across the Spanish territory, one in Cartagena.
In terms of number of students in advanced courses UIMP has about 5,000 students per year in the graduate about 1,500, in teaching Spanish 500 foreigners, and in courses Immersion linguistics in English, about 24,000 students to year, the latter funded by the Ministry of Education.
