ASTUS commemorates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3)
Guardianship Association of People with Disabilities (ASTUS), member FEAPS Murcia, met this morning to dozens of athletes with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy in municipal athletics track Cartagena adapted to perform various tests.
The Third Conference of ASTUS Sports serve to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which falls on December 3.
This year they have also joined ASID athletes Cartagena associations, ASSIDO, ASTRAPACE, PEEM, College of Special Education and Early Lopez The Day Centre trough.
The meeting will run from 9:30 to 13h and has been visited by the Councillor for Sports, Diego Ortega, and Social Care, Antonio Calderón, accompanied ASTUS president, Joaquín Barberá.
Also been passed to encourage athletes Cartagena Patricia Paz, Marcelo Ogues, Guardiola and Albert Ferrer Vicente.
The conferences have included sporting events tailored to the diverse capabilities of subscribers: from athletics (running, jumping and throwing), football or basketball to a user slalom electric wheelchairs.
The association has had the collaboration of students volunteer UCAM, IES Mediterranean who join ASTUS volunteers.
ASTUS promotes sport among people with disabilities so they achieve the same benefits that accrue to the general population.
For that, it lends support to athletes to achieve the most of its capabilities in the disciplines that best suit them.
With this meeting, people with intellectual disabilities and their families want to show the rest of Cartagena also can and need to do sport as a facet of diverse and satisfying life.
Guardianship Association of People with Disabilities (ASTUS) is a nonprofit entity born of the union of families of the Shire.
He has over 40 years providing various services ranging from early intervention to support the school or residency in order to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
