The second weekend of the Cartagena Jazz Festival on Saturday left a double concert at Municipal Auditorium featuring German trumpeter, Till Brà ¶ nner, and Spanish pianist Chano Dominguez who took the stage accompanied by the WDR Big Band in Cologne
Considered one of the top five jazz pianists in the world, Chucho Valdes was commissioned to raise the curtain of the Auditorium and Congress Palace El Batel during the second weekend of the Cartagena Jazz Festival.
The Cuban did this time accompanied by The Afro Cuban Messengers.
The repertoire of songs from the second installment of his work record Border-Free, characterized by the fusion of styles, flamenco, jazz, classical music and Arabic rhythms served to pay tribute to his father, the great Bebo Valdés, who died in March.
His sister, Mayra Caridad Valdé s, also joined this chorus of Cartagena, and his voice sounded recognized as popular as topics or Besame Mucho My Soul.
Municipal auditorium doors were reopened on Saturday 9 November for the double concert was scheduled and Cartagena brought two jazz greats of the day.
The German Till Brà ¶ nner was the first to delight fans with its exquisite trumpet, with the German jazz musician who has sold more albums in history.
The finishing touch to this musical evening came from the hand of Chano Dominguez and the renowned WDR Big Band Cologne.
