Conducting a comprehensive study of the current situation of seamounts Lorqui to develop a project to rehabilitate the area has been the request today moved Lorquí Mayor Joaquin Hernandez, the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Jose Antonio Franco.

Hernandez has expressed concern to the rector and vice-rector UPCT Economic and Strategic Planning, Emilio Trigueros, since two thirds of the municipality's population live in this area, and has requested the assistance of the University, through experts, to find a diagnosis and a solution to this old problem.
Jose Antonio Franco has expressed its commitment to the mayor to make an assessment and diagnosis of the situation, through a first visit to the area with experts and a subsequent comprehensive study to provide guidance on the actions to be performed.
Emilio Trigueros Meanwhile, a researcher at the School of Civil and Mining, considered a new challenge for UPCT experts.
The municipality located in the Vega Media has a total of 7,000 inhabitants in which there are three hillocks populated by numerous cave houses that make this a very interesting tourist spot and peculiar within the Region of Murcia.
The biggest problem is, according to the mayor, in the Peak of Scipio and Cabeza de la Ermita, since moisture and movement of the earth are causing the collapse of home and families inhabited caves Lorquí.
The aim of the study who has requested the Mayor is to know the characteristics and conditions of the area to find and develop a comprehensive plan to end this problem through various government financing and also to have the help of Europe through subsidies for such actions.
