For a Puerto Verde. Ã ‰ This is the premise and purpose of work of the Association CreeCT that, for Sundays 3 and November 24, has organized a conference in Fajardo reforestation and Galeras, respectively, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena and the Spanish Armada.
With this environmental initiative, CreeCT Association, formed just over a year by a group of citizens of Cartagena nature lovers, continues its journey convening society for restocking with native trees.
In turn, the activity is presented as an encounter for coexistence between associations, neighborhood groups, individuals and military who wish to participate in the recovery of the original tree-covered Sierras de Cartagena.
Both the Monte Fajardo as Galeras arrived in the early twentieth century completely deforested and soil had a high level of erosion.
After the Civil War, was repopulated almost entirely by the Navy with Aleppo pine.
In 2003, Galeras suffered a major arson that devastated northern and eastern slopes, killing most of the pine stands that covered and protected the soil throughout the area.
The objective of the activity is called the r ECOVERY of vegetation Mount Galeras could have originally formed largely by native species less flammable than pine and who are resistant to fire, with ability to regenerate after the passage of a fire, as the Cartagena cypress, mastic, wild olive, the buckthorn, the cornical or palm.
The native plant has been assigned by the T own Hall of Cartagena, anse, UPCT, and the Directorate General for the Environment.
