The Telecare Service of the Directorate General of the Instituto Murciano Senior Social Action (IMAS), in collaboration with Tunstall-Televida, this week gave an information day on first aid in the Day Centre Cartagena I.
This activity involved 39 people who received information about how to prevent household accidents and to act in the case of small wounds, fainting, poisonings and burns, for example.
The next day, November 11 at 10:00 pm there will be another talk in Cartagena I Day Centre to address issues related to risk prevention in the home.
The Senior Managing Director of IMAS, Enrique Perez Abellan, explained that "the goal is to advise seniors about the first steps to take in a situation of risk, emergency or accident."
Perez praised the content of these talks and noted that are being made throughout the year in different centers to elaborate on various topics such as active aging, risk prevention in the home or first aid in the major.
In this way, he said, "is to stimulate accident prevention in the home and maintain the autonomy and independence of older staff as they get to a certain age involves physical and psychological changes that increase the chances of domestic mishaps".
The CEO concluded that "the family is essential to raise awareness of the risks faced by older home so it is important to raise awareness on the need to adopt preventive behaviors that achieve a safe and comfortable home."
